This is a sensible place to start as it establishes the necessary baseline to allow you to graduate to NCS, DIS and SSS as you become more proficient. When purchasing your VAGCOM KKL interface, try and get one based on the FTI232R* rather than the FTI232B* chip as the R chip can have signals inverted via programming, whereas the B chip will need to be modified by physically soldering connections. Begin with INPA and EDIABAS and you can upgrade to NCS etc later as you gain more experience. You will also need to download and read the English setup instructions. I would recommend that you use INPA v3.01/EDIABAS v 6.4.3 from the NCS folder. I would greatly appreciate some input to get me in the right direction. I will also have to make some changes in windows xp, but what needs to be installed, the INPA alone or a combination of files? I am looking to be able to scan the vehicle, get code information, erase codes, manange oil service and maintenance interval lights, interior programming and the more options the better. I do know that i am going to need a BMW 20 PIN to 16 PIN female adapter cable OBD 2 OBD2 and a USB OBD2 Vag Com KKL Interface cable for Audi VW Skoda. I wanted to ask you, what exactly do i need to download to make the system work as i am mentally blocked with so much information. I guess being new to this, is going to be a common symptom. I was reading/looking through the sharing folder you have and got even more confused.
I am new to the forum and am trying to learn the basics on how to setup the INPA for my 2000 328Ci. When prompted, "INPA" is the word you need. You need to go tp the 4shared website referred to in post #607 (page 25 of the "Carsoft Success" thread) as it contains fully functional files and INPA/NCS help files. There are many versions of EDIABAS circulating which are incomplete and do not support NCS or NFS.
